Abstract:
The research, development and technologies of the small animal
micro-isolators dedicated to rodents, have yet to evolve at the
large animal housing level. Mr. Stirton in his presentation titled
the " The Macro- 'Micro Isolator' will outline the environmental
protection considerations embodied in containment and housing strategies
for large animals. Large animal containment facility design solutions
are predicated on the notion of environmental, animal, and personnel
safety. Safeguarding the people working with large animals, the
animal themselves and the environment requires operational, functional
and technical prowess to achieve success. Discussion will focus
on the concerns of airborne, carcass and water contamination and
sterilization strategies.
