Breakfast Session:
Federal Roundtable: Labs21 and the Energy Policy Act of 2005

Wednesday, October 19
8-9 a.m.

Signed by President Bush in August, the Energy Policy Act (EPACT) of 2005 includes a number of important requirements for federal agencies regarding goals for energy efficiency improvements in existing and new facilities, increased use of renewable energy sources, and procurement of energy efficient equipment in applicable contracts, among other topics.

During the session, we:

  • Discussed the impact EPACT will have on federal laboratories
  • Highlighted how Labs21 can help through benchmarking tools and metrics, opportunities for training, forums for information sharing, federal success stories and best practices, and a network of experienced leaders
  • Shared federal success stories
  • Allowed for open discussion to discuss the challenges and opportunities your agency faces in meeting the requirements of this legislation
