Michael Grainey

Michael Grainey is Director of the Oregon Department of Energy. The Department administers Oregon's incentives to increase use of energy conservation and renewable resources, including state tax credits, low-interest loans, and other programs. The Department sites large energy facilities, assures the safe shipment of radioactive materials through Oregon, and oversees the cleanup of radioactive waste. The Department also represents the State of Oregon on issues about the Hanford Nuclear Site, which is located in Washington but also affects Oregon.

Mike has been with the Oregon Department of Energy since 1980 and became Director in January 2002. He graduated from New York University Law School and received his undergraduate degree from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. He is admitted to practice law in Oregon, Washington, and the District of Columbia.
