Labs21 Advanced Course: Laboratory Ventilation Design
Labs21 was excited to announce another offering of its Advanced Course at this year's conference! The course, part of a series of advanced course modules on sustainable laboratory design and related topics, was based on Labs21 Best Practice Guides.
Laboratory ventilation systems are designed to provide a safe and comfortable working environment for occupants. But these high-airflow systems can require substantial operational costs and energy usage. This course focused on reducing energy use through optimizing laboratory ventilation design, specifically by recognizing the individual building's unique aspects for safe operation.
The course included sessions discussing:
- Optimizing laboratory ventilation rate
- High-performance laboratory exhaust devices
- Low-pressure-drop duct design
- Advanced effluent dispersion design
This course is worth 6 Professional Development Hours (PDHs) for professional engineers and 6 Continuing Education Credits (CECs) from the American Institute of Architects for registered architects.
