U.S. General Services Administration

The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) has enlisted the technical assistance of Labs21 as it renovates and expands a government laboratory facility in Kansas City, Missouri. GSA is currently in the construction phase of the project. Once completed, the facility will increase in size by approximately 40 percent to 47,050 square feet, 25,800 square feet of which will be laboratory space. The facility will require 19 fume hoods and will also feature office and meeting space.

The facility is currently leased by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA’s) Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Administration (GIPSA). GIPSA facilitates the marketing of livestock, poultry, meat, cereals, oilseeds, and related agricultural products, and promotes fair and competitive trading practices for the overall benefit of consumers and American agriculture. GIPSA will use this particular facility for analyzing grain samples.

Labs21 will offer specific technical assistance to set and model energy efficiency requirements using Labs21 modeling guidelines and ASHRAE 90.1 specifications. This process is expected to enhance sustainability and energy efficiency at the facility.
