Harvard University

Harvard University's Lab of Human Reproduction and Reproductive Biology

The Harvard Green Campus Initiative will develop and implement a fume hood energy reduction program at the Laboratory for Human Reproduction and Reproductive Biology Building on the Harvard Medical School campus. This project will involve analyzing fume hood inventory data; proposing a variety of methods to reduce fume hood energy (including both behavioral changes and technological changes); implementing the chosen strategies, including making a Harvard Green Campus Loan Fund application for capital costs where applicable, and doing the necessary market research and assessment of various vendors; and assessing the project's replicability to other labs on campus.

The Harvard Green Campus Initiative aims to make environmental sustainability an integral part of the Harvard community. Working within Harvard's decentralized structure, the Initiative engages Harvard faculty, students, and administrators, to develop an understanding of sustainability, develop networks within and between faculties, and enable the community to institutionalize sustainable practices.
