Sandia National Laboratories

The Microsystems and Engineering Sciences Applications (or "MESA") Complex will be a new, state-of-the-art facility for microsystems research and development at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The MESA Complex is currently in the design phase and when complete will total 377,000 square feet, including a 16,000 square-foot cleanroom, a MicroLab building, and a light laboratory and office building. The complex will use virtual environment technology to demonstrate a science and engineering workplace of the 21st century.


Sandia National Laboratories uses science and technology to achieve its primary mission of ensuring the safety, security, and reliability of the United States' nuclear weapons stockpile. As a National Security Laboratory, Sandia is also involved in energy research and development, and both military and economic national security projects.
