University of California, Davis

New state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities are being
designed for the University of California, Davis (UC Davis) campus.
The new facilities will allow for all teaching space, including
the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, to be at the same location
on campus. One of the new buildings, a 171,000 square-foot veterinary
and biomedical research building, will be an open laboratory with office
space that will meet the needs of the increasing number of students
and faculty on campus. Construction on this new building, currently
known as 3B, is set to begin in 2008. The University plans to use
the Labs21 Environmental Performance Criteria as a guide while designing
the facility.
UC Davis is one of the nation's top public research universities
and is part of the world's pre-eminent public university system.
The central purpose of UC Davis as a comprehensive research university
is the generation, advancement, dissemination, and application of
knowledge. The campus is set in the heart of the Central Valley,
close to California's state capital and San Francisco Bay Area.
