LABbuild 2004 Conference and Exhibition
In November 2004, more than 250 laboratory professionals gathered
in Brisbane, Australia, to discuss the design, construction and
management of modern laboratories. Presented by CSIRO, one of Australia's
largest owners and operators of research facilities, LABbuild focused
on the issues affecting research facilities in the twenty-first
century. Labs21 was honored to play a key role at this first-of-its-kind
event in Australiaoffering our one-day Design Course and contributing
to various technical sessions. The photos below share some of the
highlights from this exciting event.

During the LABbuild opening session, Mark Kelly of Woods
Bagot shared his experiences with multi-national research
companies to describe how research facilities are meeting
global challenges today and how they can continue to do so
into the future. The opening session also included keynote
addresses by Dr. Jim Peacock, President of the Australian
Academy of Science, and independent lab consultant, Dr. Richard
Rietz.

The audience at the LABbuild opening session included representatives
from government, universities, architecture and engineering
firms, and research organizations from throughout Australia
and New Zealand.

In addition to leading the Labs21 Design Course, members
of the Labs21 team presented during one of the many technical
sessions at LABbuild.

The LABbuild dinner provided attendees with a great networking
opportunity and a forum in which to relax. The Conference
provided a number of other optional events, including a
guided tour to some of Australia's newest working laboratories.

products used in the procurement of research and laboratory
facilities.
